How we honor your privacy
Your trust is part of every order. Here's what we collect, why, and the care we take with it.
Last updated June 14, 2026
At VJ's Promise & Purpose, we treat your information the way we treat everything we make — with honesty and care. This policy explains what we collect when you visit our shop or place an order, how we use it, who we trust to help us run the shop, and the choices you have. We keep it simple on purpose. If anything here is unclear, please reach out — we're glad to help.
1. What we collect
When you shop with us or get in touch, we collect only what we need:
- Information you provide — your name, email address, shipping address, and order details (the products you choose and any notes you send us).
- Basic site & usage analytics — general information about how visitors find and move through the shop, such as pages viewed and the type of device used.
- Cookies — small files that help the site work properly and remember your preferences. More on these below.
2. Payments
Payments are processed securely by Square, our payment provider. When you check out, your card details go directly to Square's encrypted system. We do not see or store your full card number — we only receive confirmation that a payment was made and the order details needed to fulfill it. Square's own privacy practices govern how they handle your payment information.
3. Email
If you join our list, we use Resend to send you occasional updates, restock notices, and news from the shop. We send these only with your consent, and every email includes an unsubscribe link so you can step away anytime. We don't share your email with anyone for their own marketing.
4. How we use your information
We use what we collect to:
- Make and ship your orders, and send you order confirmations and updates;
- Communicate with you and answer your questions;
- Improve the shop — what we stock, how it reads, and how it works;
- With your consent, send updates, restocks, and occasional news.
We do not use your information for anything beyond running and improving the shop.
5. Who we share it with
We share your information only with the trusted service providers we need to run the shop, and only the parts they need to do their job:
- Square — to process payments securely;
- USPS — to ship and deliver your order;
- Resend — to send email updates you've opted into;
- Cloudflare — to host and protect the website.
We never sell your information, and we never share it for someone else's marketing.
6. Cookies & analytics
Cookies help the shop remember your preferences and keep things running smoothly, and our basic analytics help us understand what's useful so we can make the site better. None of this is used to identify you personally beyond what you share at checkout. You can control or clear cookies anytime in your browser settings — most browsers also let you block them entirely, though some parts of the shop may work a little less smoothly if you do.
7. Your rights & choices
You're always in control of your information. You may ask us to:
- Access the information we hold about you;
- Correct anything that's wrong or out of date;
- Delete your information, where we're able to;
- Opt out of marketing emails at any time.
California residents have additional rights under the CCPA, and visitors in the EU and UK have additional rights under the GDPR — including rights to access, portability, and erasure. We honor these rights; just contact us and we'll help you exercise them.
8. Data security & retention
We take reasonable steps to protect your information, and we rely on trusted providers like Square and Cloudflare whose systems are built with security in mind. No method of storage or transmission is ever perfectly secure, but we work to keep your information safe. We keep your information only as long as we need it to fulfill orders, meet our records and tax obligations, and serve you — then we remove it. [CONFIRM: how long order and customer records are kept, e.g. retained for X years for tax and bookkeeping]
9. Children's privacy
Our shop is intended for adults and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 13. If you believe a child has provided us information, please contact us and we'll remove it promptly.
10. Changes to this policy
As the shop grows, we may update this policy from time to time. When we do, we'll revise the "Last updated" date at the top of this page. We encourage you to check back now and then so you're always informed.
11. Contact for privacy requests
For any privacy question or request — access, correction, deletion, or opting out — we're here to help.
